Akismet plugin

I have been running this blog without any spam filter.  Let me tell you it was a big mistake.  I just updated the wordpress version I’m running.  Since I was doing the housekeeping I thought maybe I should also activate the Akismet plugin.  Pretty much the Akismet plugin will catch all the spam comments.  Similar to email spam filters, it works great.  I should have activated it day 1.

Another nice geeky thing, if your running Ms media center instead of Tivo, do yourself a favor and install McBuddy.  It can cut those commercials out for you so you don’t need to fast forward when watching your fav shows.

Site moved

I moved my blog ( this site ) from the subdomain to  Next week sometime I will disconnect the subdomain and your old bookmarks will not resolve.  Note the new location and for your RSS feed Why you ask, mostly it’s because of domain and subdomain stats not blending nicely.  It’s also shorter, short is good.

How bad is Comcast ?

Bad enough if you ask me, this one is an old one, I’m sure we will hear more about it though.  What even gives Comcast the nerves to limit the service that I already payed for.  Shame on you Comcast blocking traffic.

And then the FCC just told Comcast to stop this business… uh, what, no fine, no nothing.  They knew exactly what they were doing and the FCC just does a slap on the wrist.  On a 3 to 2 vote, what ?  What about those people that pay full price to access the internet.  They couldn’t since comcast didn’t allow them to access what they wanted, this is a bad deal all around.  Not even a discount to the subscriber.

This doesn’t affect me at this point as I do not use torrent, bittorrent peer to peer stuff.  However if Comcast was actually able to block that traffic then what’s next, and so forth.  Next you know your not getting anywhere on the Internet unless Comcast has it on their approved list….  In the meantime my stuff seems to work fine.  Although sometimes I have reservation about my Vonage traffic as Comcast offers Voip phone service as well.  It goes without saying, Vonage has lower price tag and much better service.

Comcast has capped the transfer at 250 GB limit a month.  Not that I could fill that, still they don’t fully deliver.

Comcast if you don’t clean up your act, I will come over carrying a hammer.

Joel & Jeff Unite

I have read Joel for a long time, recently he started the buzz about his new upcoming Stack Overflow  This time around he isn’t alone though, he’s joining forces with Jeff Atwood.  Good for him I say, he’s probably a good developer otherwise Joel wouldn’t be working with him.  To only discover later that Jeff Atwood is the Coding Horror blogger.  The funny part is that I have been reading both of them and now they joined forces on their new project, kewl.  If  Stack Overflow doesn’t sell out, which is unlikely I’m sure it is going to be a big success.  Join the fun at Stack Overflow there sure is a need for that site.

First off, TeamCity

I have been putting a build management tool to work at work for the last couple of weeks.  We started looking for a build management tool and came up on TeamCity.  I can’t sum up how nice it is in a short post so look out for more in depth later on.  I’m still configuring this blog to get it going…
